Race Equality
Walsall Council is required under the Race Relations (Amendment) Act 2000 to produce a Race Equality Scheme, every three years, to promote race equality in everything it does. It also has to show how the council measures its progress in achieving improvements in racial equality. The council has worked hard on promoting race equality and on making a difference to service users through conducting equality impact assessments.
The Race Equality Scheme seeks to enable employees to reach their full potential and to ensure that all service users receive equitable and efficient provision regardless of race. Each year an annual review statement is published.

The Race Relations (Amendment) Act 2000 places a statutory duty on local authorities to promote race equality and aims to improve equal opportunities in employment. Each year there is a report under our Race Equality Scheme, from human resources and development, detailing the results of a monitoring exercise.
