Annual report

The council's Annual Report for 2007/8 (1MB), published on 30 September 2008, provides a review of our achievements over the year from 1 April 2007 to 31 March 2008.  It also provides details of our resources – financial and human – and our use of those resources.  It refers back to our Corporate Plan, our directorate and service plans, and our budget plans, for 2007/08.  It sits alongside our Corporate Plan for 2008/09 – which looks forward and sets out our plans for the current year and beyond.

The Annual Report is published each year to report back on our achievements in the previous financial year.  It is published in the autumn, once the council’s accounts for that year have been published and signed off.

Reporting back in this way enables the council – councillors and employees – to reflect on our performance, and helps local residents, and others with an interest in the council, to judge our effectiveness, and our contribution to the borough and to local communities.

In addition to this Annual Report, we report on our achievements and our level of performance throughout the year through the council's magazine 'Walsall Pride'.  We also provide a summary of our achievements in the booklet ‘Your council’, published in March each year, and distributed to all households with the annual council tax account.
