Trade Unions
If any kind of problem arises at work, it makes sense to have someone on your side. The council supports a number of trade unions and employees are encouraged to join an appropriate union. The three main non-teaching unions that operate within the authority are UNISON, UNITE and GMB. Teaching staff also have the option to join a number of teachers' unions including ASCL, ATL, NAHT, NASUWT and NUT. The trade unions provide support and representation from members on all work related issues including pay and conditions.
