How to join your local library

Who can join?
Everyone is welcome to join the library and it’s free!
How do I join?
Visit your local library and a member of staff will help you to complete an application form. You may also fill in the form and join online. If you are under 13, you will need to have your application form signed by a parent or carer.
Can I borrow some books straightaway?
Borrow up to 3 books on your first visit. Your library card will be posted to your home within a few days.
What else can I do with my library card?
- Borrow books and talking books from any library in Walsall.
- Borrow CDs and DVDs (from selected libraries)
- Access information for study, hobbies and leisure activities.
- Access online resources 24/7
- Get free access to computers and the internet.
How many items can I borrow at a time?
- Up to 15.
How long can I borrow books for?
- Most books are loaned for 4 weeks.
- Bestsellers are loaned for 1 week.
- For DVD and CD loan periods, visit the DVDs and Compact Discs page
What happens if I cannot return my books on time?
- If you have a PIN you may renew your books online.
- You may phone Walsall Library Line on 01922 709256 to renew over the phone (24 hours). Items in demand, DVDs and CDs or other special loans may not always be renewable.
- If you do not return items on time, you may be charged a small fine.
How do I find out what my PIN number is?
- Visit your local library and ask the staff. You will need to show your library card.
What else do I need a PIN number for?
- To request an item online
- To enter a book review on our online library catalogue
- To book a computer online
- To log onto a computer in the library
