DVDs and Compact Discs
DVDs
We offer a wide and varied selection of DVDs. These are available at Walsall Central Library, Darlaston Library, and Willenhall Library. Children's DVDs are also available from Blakenall Library.
You can borrow the latest feature films as well as Children’s, Classics, Comedies, Thrillers, Adventure, Horror, War, Sci-Fi, Drama, Asian and World Cinema, Documentaries and Travel.
Charges
Hire charges vary from £1 to £2.50 per item, depending on the category of film.
Loan periods vary:
- 2 Night Loan – for the latest feature films - £2.50
- 7 Day Loan - for older films - £1.50
- 7 Day Loan - for children’s films - £1
- 28 Day Loan - for documentaries - £1.50
Further hire charges are payable if DVDs are returned late.
DVD Suggestion Service
There is a suggestion service for acquiring DVDs not currently in stock.
Please ask at your local library.
Compact Discs
We offer a wide and varied selection of CDs for all tastes. These are available at Walsall Central Library, Darlaston Library, Bloxwich Library, and Aldridge Library. CDs are also available from the Mobile Library.
You can borrow Rock & Pop, Compilations, Classical Music, Jazz & Blues, Country & Folk, Soundtracks & Musicals, Asian and World Music.
Please note that under British Phonographic Industry guidelines we are required to hold back many new music CDs for three months from the release date.
Charges
Hire charges vary according to your library ticket category:
- Borrowers 13-17 years - 35p per item
- Borrowers 18+ years - 70p per item
- Borrowers 60+ years - 35p per item
- Leisure Card Holders - 35p per item
- Registered Blind – free
You can borrow CDs for 28 Days. Further hire charges are payable if CDs are returned late.
CD Request Service and Suggestion Service
You can request any item already in stock (check our catalogue to reserve an item) or by visiting or telephoning a Library which offers a recorded music service and paying a reservation fee.
There is a suggestion service for acquiring CDs not currently in stock.
