Book Title: Spy Dog
Author: Andrew Cope

A review by Mia, aged 10 from Kings Hill School

On the back of the book, it promised excitement and adventure. It was and it made me feel as if I were there running, hiding, taking deep breaths and having the most incredible time with my family, my new owners. At first when i looked at the blurb, it sounded like Lara was a robot because of her name GM451.

I thought this book was amazing and exciting. I think you should read it. I guarantee this book to be full of adventure and it is great, wonderful. There is a fight between men  and one dog, a spy dog. Does she manage to escape? If you read this magnificent book, you will find out.

Book Title: Spy Dog

Author: Andrew Cope

A review by Alisha , aged 10 from Kings Hill School

The book is about a dog called Lara who is a spy dog working undercover and living with a family. Nobody expects she is a spy dog. She stops people who have drugs and bad weapons.

I think you should read this book because it is very interesting and after a chapter you just want to know what happens next

Book Title: Dirty Bertie

Author: David Roberts

A review by Alisha, aged 9

Although this book is aimed at younger children, people above this age would enjoy it too. I do think that the entire book only teaches children to be rude and dirty- just like Bertie! The illustrations were good so overall I will give this book four out of five.

Book Title: Winnie the Witch

Author: Valerie Thomas and Korky Paul

A review by Ellie, aged 8

The book is about a witch named Winnie. She has a black house and a black cat. Winnie makes a lot of mistakes.

I think this book is funny and it made me laugh. I really enjoyed this book and liked it so much I read it three times! I think this book would be suitable for children aged five to ten years old

Book Title: Kipper the dog

Author: Mick Inkpen

A review by Alisha, aged 9

I thought this book was funny, interesting and the pictures related well to the text. Ideally suited to younger children but parents would enjoy reading this too. The illustrations are detailed well by Mick Inkpen and it is easy to see by younger children.

Overall, I would give this book the score of five out of five.

Book Title: Aliens love underpants
Author: Claire Freedman and Ben Cort

A review by Alisha , aged 9

This book was happy, funny and made me laugh as soon as I heard the line 'so when you put your pants on, freshly washed and clean, just check in case an alien lurks inside unseen.' The illustrations were eye catching, and colourful. Overall I would give this book five out of five.

Book Title: A Series of Unfortunate Events: The Bad Beginning
Author: Lemony Snickets

A review by Glenn, aged 12

What happens in the story?

In the story the Baudelaire house is burnt down and Violet, Klaus and Sunny’s parents died. They were so rich that they gave all their money to their children. They were forced to stay with Count Olaf who desperately wanted their money and tries to kill the children.

The best bit?

When Count Olaf first meets the Baudelaire triplets, and the parts set in Olaf’s horrible house.

Best character?

Count Olaf, because he’s very funny, and I love it when he dresses up as other people to disguise himself.

Who would like the book?

I think young children, or anyone who loves adventure.

Rating?

It was very good. 9/10
