Bereavement
The Bereavement Services Division aims to provide a sympathetic, prompt and caring service for bereaved families of all different religious and cultural backgrounds within the community. We are also responsible for the maintenance of Cemeteries and Crematoria under the control of the authority to an acceptable standard or specification.
The services of the Bereavement Division are delivered by an experienced team of dedicated staff who take pride in their work and deliver the services in a professional though friendly way, always remembering that they are dealing with the public at a most vulnerable time.
Our staff are responsible for the day to day contact with Funeral Directors and members of the public. These front line staff often have to explain to distressed members of the public what the legal requirements are to enable funerals to take place. Although funerals are more often than not organised by Funeral Directors, families may make arrangements themselves and deal directly with us.
