Delighted Walsall Council engineers are celebrating after they clocked up another milestone.
The Hatherton Street and Littleton Street junction has been completed by contractors Norwest Holst.
The achievement is part of a string of landmarks to be hit this month.
Councillor Anthony Harris, Walsall Council cabinet member for transport, said: “This is great news and we are pleased to see one of the town’s key gateways open to motorists.
“With the countdown well under way we are reaching major landmarks thick and fast which is great to see.
“We’ve been asking people to bear with us and we’re pleased to see the road taking a big step forward.”
The move will be a major help to shoppers get around the town, transport bosses say.
More than 10,000 leaflets giving the latest updates have been printed and are to be available from public buildings including libraries and leisure centres.
Amongst achievements for December is the completion of the Littleton Street West and Littleton Street East dual carriageway along with the entrance to the new Walsall College building in Littleton Street.
The Wisemore and Littleton Street West junction is to be finished by the middle of the month along with the Blue Lane West and Court Way dual carriageway.
The Pleck Road, Rollingmill Street and Ida Road junction is due to be finished this month.
The ring road – which is also known as the Town Centre Transport Package – is more than a mile long and stretches from Pleck Road past Blue Lane West along Littleton Street to the Arboretum junction.
The road will help ease congestion through the town and help improve traffic flow through the town.
