Where to find out about vacancies

The first stage in applying for jobs with Walsall Council is to complete an application form. However, before you can fill the form in you need to know where to find out what vacancies we have.

Job Shop Weekly

Job Shop is Walsall Council's vacancy bulletin. It is published on a weekly basis and is a compilation of advertisements for available vacancies with the Authority. Job Shop Weekly is produced on Monday each week (except for weeks following a Bank Holiday) and is widely distributed throughout the Borough. It is displayed in the Civic Centre First Stop Shop, Libraries, Leisure Centres and local schools. It is also distributed to local community groups and Jobcentres.

Job Shop Weekly can be downloaded from our internet site. Walsall Council's internet recruitment facility provides the option of searching all current vacancies for the specific sort of opportunities you are looking for. Alternatively you can look at a list of all of our vacancies. You will also find the facility to request application forms online along with the option of downloading important documents such as application forms, job descriptions and employee specifications.

Employment Service Jobcentres

Walsall Council vacancies are advertised in Jobcentres.

Newspapers

A selection of Walsall Council vacancies are publicised in local and national press. Some vacancies are advertised in specialist publications.

Job advertisements

Job advertisements give brief details of the vacancy including; what the job involves, the rate of pay and hours of work, the job reference number and the closing date for applications. They also provide information on how to request an application form and further details.

Remember, you must use a Walsall Council application form.

Important dates to remember

Receiving the application form

Application forms and job details are sent out using second class post

Closing date

Completed application forms must be returned on or before the advertised closing date. Closing dates are normally two weeks after the date of advertisement.

Being notified that you have been selected for interview

If you send in an application form and don't hear from us within 4-6 weeks of the closing date then you should assume that you have not been successful in your application.

If we invite you to attend an interview then you will be given at least 5 days notice of the interview date.
